Baby's First Birthday
Your first day of school. Your first kiss. Your first car. There are only a finite number of firsts in one’s life–which is precisely what makes them so monumental. Therefore, it would be an understatement to claim that a baby’s first birthday is a special occasion for all parents. It goes without saying that honouring the special day with a party would be of the highest order!
Growing Pains
Here’s where we now have to tread delicately. We know that as parents of one-year-olds, you’re beyond excited to celebrate the day with family and friends. We totally get it. But sometimes being a guest at such an event (especially for those without little bundles of joy of their own) can be, how should we put it–challenging. It’s not because we don’t love you or your little ones, but rather because these parties can often be less than stellar in the organization and food departments. In short, if you’re going to have a first birthday, shouldn’t it be a grand affair?
“I Love the Smell of Baby Wipes in the Morning”
For many of us, being invited to a baby’s first birthday can evoke PTSD like flashbacks: tot mayhem and madness, mixed with the taste of bland hot dogs, greasy pizza, and potato chips: a strange infant version of “Apocalypse Now” without the choppers and fatigues. Don’t even mention cheap grocery store sheet cake!
A Celebration of Life
The good news is that it doesn’t have to be this way! With a bit of organization, planning and, of course, great food, your baby’s first birthday can be a fabulous, memorable and a delightful celebration of life, bringing together both old and young. A party that everyone will look forward to!
It’s All About the Culinary Experience
Whether it’s a first birthday or a one-hundred and first, the key to any good party is the food. Heck, we’d even look forward to a root canal if we knew it there was going to be great food there! Ok, that may be a slight exaggeration, but you get the idea.
Just the Facts
You have a one-year-old. You’re sleep deprived. Your time is limited. These are the facts. So instead of trying to cook and bake for the party, while dealing with a one-year-old, we’d recommend hiring a caterer to put together sensational canapés and hors-d’oeuvres.
This way your guests will enjoy a selection of truly sensational culinary delights, and you don’t have to slave over a hot stove and try to keep track of your child at the same time!
Don’t Worry. Be Happy
Not having to worry about taking care of the food, means getting to enjoy your time with your toddler and your family. It’s one of your child’s biggest milestones, and you’ll want to be “present” for every minute of it!
Finger-Friendly Food
We recommend choosing our hors-d’oeuvres, and/or our grazing stations, as it allows for your family and friends to mingle while tending to (or running after) their children. Many of our selections are “finger-food friendly” as well, so you don’t have to provide cutlery, and your guests won’t be trying to chase their little ones while balancing a plate of lasagna!
Contact Us!
W.C Fields famously cautioned never to work with animals or children, but we respectfully disagree. We love catering children’s events and bringing joy to the entire family! But, yeah, we don’t think we’re ready to cater puppy weddings just yet!
Please contact to discuss ideas for your child’s first birthday! We’d love to hear from you.
