A rustic barn wedding where everything local, and everything Italian summed up this amazing couple and their vision! Having grown up on Westham Island, the bride was used to having the freshest produce available, so this played a huge part in their menu development. Absolutely all of the fruits and vegetables were sourced and provided by Cropthorne Farm and Westham Island Herb Farm, and this was intensely fun for us! The beef was special-ordered and dry-aged and was sourced through Two Rivers Meats</a>, and the Arctic Char was flown in directly from Nunavut, and the rest of the menu was created around an amazing dinner that they had had earlier while vacationing in Italy. Designing and executing a menu like this was rather like a dream…
The wedding was held at the bride’s family’s home on Westham Island, and then the dinner and celebration took place down the road at Roddick’s Barn. Guests were able to hop on board for a hay ride from the house to the barn, and upon arrival, were greeted by our staff who were tray passing a specialty Mint Julep cocktail. Casual grazing stations were setup, and were offering a trio of Burgers, Roman ‘Fritto Misto’ and Italian charcuterie and cheeses. And as a fun note, all the Burgers were speared with house-made dill pickles, as those were a favourite of the groom!
A leisurely four course family-style dinner followed, offering Marinated Burrata & Heirloom Tomato Salad, Cropthorne Farm Green Salad, Gnocchi Arrabiatta, Bistecca Fiorentino, Grilled Arctic Char, Rosemary Roasted Fingerling & German Butter Potatoes, and Crispy Multicolored Romanesco Cauliflower with Capers, Herbs & Shaved Parmigiano…and then cake.
And then…’The Midnight Cowboys’ took to the stage, and 190 guests danced the night away!
