Birds of a Feather Savoury City’s Culinary Partners

The old adage “birds of a feather flock together” seems to ring true for those in the culinary world. Indeed, Savoury City’s Head Honcho, Donna Wadsworth and her partner in life and business, Blaine Arnot, are no exception to this rule. Over the years, they’ve carefully curated a group of like-minded partners who have the same food philosophy as they do–people who care deeply about food that is grown locally, organically and who won’t settle for anything but the best. For Savoury City and their ilk, the two most important words are ‘flavour’ and ‘quality!’

A Culinary Community

Since Donna and Blaine gave birth to Savoury City over 16 years ago, they wanted to surround themselves with a community of local food producers that understood their passion for quality. It’s one of the aspects of their food philosophy that has resonated with their clients. People know that when they hire Savoury City for their custom catering needs, only the very best will be served!

Check out some of their amazing partners!

Les Amis du Fromage

Any cheese aficionado living in Vancouver knows about Les Amis! The famous fromagerie was founded in 1985 by Alice and Allison Spurrell. This family-owned company has been in business for over 30 years, so you know they’ve mastered the fine art of cheese making. Once you’ve tasted their West Coast and imported cheese platters, you’ll understand why they are the top choice for the culinary-minded cabal in Vancouver!

Oyama Sausage Co.

This shop located in the heart of Granville Island’s famous market is known both locally and internationally. Oyama, another multi-generational family owned business, selects the freshest ingredients and only the very best cuts of meat. Their meats are cured to perfection and they use tried and true methods and recipes that have in place for centuries. It’s for these reasons that Oyama provides Savoury City with their charcuterie!

Maple Hill Farms

Savoury City doesn’t compromise when it comes to quality and freshness. And when it comes to chickens and eggs, they don’t which came first, as long as they are organic and top quality! Savoury City relies on Maple Hill Farms for grain-fed and hormone free hens for the very best eggs around!

Gelderman Farms

Yet another family-owned business (do you see a pattern), Gelderman Farms is located in the Fraser Valley. Jerry and Audrey Gelderman love working with animals and are committed to the highest quality ham and pork. Savoury City used to cure their own ham and bacon, but they realized that Jerry did it better than anyone! As the old maxim goes, “if you can’t beat ‘em…” These are a few of the reasons why Savoury City loves working with Jerry and Audrey:

  • Raised locally in the Fraser Valley
  • Bedded on sawdust
  • Freedom to run and root
  • Supports the 100-mile diet
  • Feed custom made on the farm
  • No animal meat by-products
  • No therapeutic antibiotic treatment
  • No growth hormones *as per Canadian regulations
  • Animal Care Assurance Certified
  • Canadian Quality Assurance Certified
  • Government Inspected

A Labour of Love

Working with like-minded partners is a joy for Donna and Blaine, as Savoury City is not simply a catering company to them, but a labour of love–the love of serving the very best they have to offer.
